Essential Skills Sewing Classes Begin for Spring Cohort

This spring, Essentials First launched a new round of Essential Skills sewing classes, beginning with our first session in Bellevue. The 18-week program provides hands-on training in sewing and textile skills, creating an opportunity for participants to build practical abilities that can translate into income and greater financial stability.

The program is free and open to students from all backgrounds, with a focus on supporting low-income community members who are looking for new ways to contribute to their household income and support their families. Through weekly classes, participants learn foundational sewing techniques, gain experience with equipment, and build the confidence to apply these skills in creative or entrepreneurial ways.

Our spring cohort is now underway in Bellevue, and classes in Kent also began this week. We’re excited to support this group as they develop new skills, connect with one another, and explore new opportunities over the coming months.
